Mary I of England (also called Mary Tudor or Bloddy Mary) was born the 18th February of the year 1516 in Greenwich Palace (England). She belonged to the Tudor's dynasty because she was daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragón (the youngest daughter of the Catholic Monarchs). Mary was Catholic as her mother. She was proclaimed queen the 19th July of 1553. She finally died the 17th of November of 1558 in St. James' Palace (England).

Early Ages
She was the first child Henry VIII had with his first wife, Catherine of Aragón. Although his father loved her very much he was pleased to have a son so as Catherine didn't give him a male heir he married Anne Boleyn and Mary was declared illegitimated. Trying to get the annulment of his marriage with Catherine, Hernry VIII separated from the Catholic Church because the Pope didn't want to give him the annulment, that way Henry formed the Anglican Church. Anne Boleyn gave birth to Elizabeth (later called Elizabeth I) who was soon declared a bastard as well because her mother also failed in producing a son for Henry. After Anne Boleyn was decapitated, his father married for the third time with Jane Seymour who gave birth to Edward VI before dying. Henry married two more times before getting marry to Catherine Parr, his last wife. Catherine united all the family again and Mary and her stepsister were put again in the line of succesion to the throne. Edward VI succeeded his father but he died very young. Nevermind as Mary was Catholic, he didn't want her to claim for the Throne as she could spread Catholicism through England so Edward excluded Mary and Elizabeth from the line of succession, that way Lady Jane Grey (Henry VIII niece) was proclaimed Queen of England. Anyway she was dethrone nine days later and Mary I took her place.

Marriage
Since she was little, his father Henry negotiated possible marriages for her. Some of her possible husbands had been Francis I of France, her cousin Charles V and Edward Courtenay but finally she got married to Philip II, son of Charles V although English didn't wanted her to marry a Spanish for fear of having to rely on Spain. The marriage took place in the Cathedral of Winchester the 25th July of 1554, two days after they met for the first time. At that moment Philip was 27 and she was 38.
Mary had two false pregnancies but at the end she didn't have any sons or daugthers. Philip did as he got married three more times, two of them after her.

Last Years
Mary I only reigned from July 1553 to November 1558 because she died the 17th November of that year at age 42. It is said that probably she died because of an ovarian cyst or an uterina cancer, an illness that increased with a depression she had. Mary was buried the 14th of December, 1558 in Westminster Abbey (also Elizabeth I is buried there).
